Devlog march 27th - Characters for the Septimus cutscene

Welcome to the second devlog of March!



We're continuing the work on cutscenes and dialogue to move the plot along. 

First, we finished the dialogue for Kara, a peculiar harpy living in the forest village

We have shown this character off before, but now she has dialogue.

Next, we created a cutscene for the character Septimus.

The area shown in this cutscene is also new, but to save time we're re-using trees and other graphical details. 

Septimus is a student at the mage school and we've seen him before. He'll interact with a couple of new characters: First of, his teacher:

Septimus has questions for his teacher, but the teacher does not seem inclined to listen at the moment.

Then, Septimus must find some missing students. We have already drawn them, so let's take a look.

The robes are a recoloured version of the teacher's robes. The colours match Septimus own robe, signifying that they are around the same rank.

Both the teacher and the students are minor characters. The primary goal of these interactions is to flesh out Septimus' character and show how he will eventually join the party. 


Finally, we looked a bit at the plan for the rest of the game. We were originally thinking about having several smaller areas with a few quests for the player to do after they have gathered their full party. Now we're planning to combine these several areas into one larger area. Combining them into a larger area will save some time, because we will not have to handle the transitions between areas.

But it might be difficult to make this big area work, since we want to ensure that the player finds all their companions and has a full party. We'll have to take this into consideration once we design the area.
