Devlog may 23 - dialogue system

Welcome to the second May devlog!

Unfortunately I've been quite ill the past couple of days so I won't be able to put as much effort into this devlog as usual, but I want to at least put something out.

We have been working on adding dialogue to the game, so you can now talk with characters across the game.

We wanted to draw a second character for Marius to talk to, but didn't manage. So for this example he'll be talking to the air.

Every bit of dialogue will show a closeup of the character, and each character can also have a variety of gestures and facial expressions.

Here is an example where Marius is scowling and gesturing. We can always add more expressions and gestures as we need them.

If a character's closeup art is particularly wide, the right part will be faded out so it doesn't obscure the text. That's why Marius' hand looks faded in the above example.

The little arrow button in the bottom right will slide the dialogue box out of view, allowing the player to view the background. It can then be pressed again to slide the box back.

The way the character looks can change dynamically over the course of the game. This could for example allow for scars or costume changes.

That's all for now! The first June devlog will be on june 13th. Talk to you then!
